How The Curator leaderboard is scored
What earns points
Points follow finished thinking. A conversation scores when it reaches a conclusion rather than per message, so a long, meandering thread is worth the same as a tight one that arrives somewhere. Finishing an article, completing a quiz on material you have read, and working through the walkthrough each award a fixed amount, once.
Quizzes are re-scored on the server against the stored answers, so what the board records is what the server verified, not what a browser reported.
Why ranks move slowly
Totals are cumulative, never reset, and carry no streak multiplier. Steady reading beats a burst of activity, which is deliberate: the board is meant to track curiosity that lasts, not attendance.
Identical totals are ranked by who got there first. No score is edited by hand — a faulty rule is fixed in the rule and all affected totals recomputed at once.
Privacy on the board
All other participants appear as masked handles, to signed-in readers and administrators alike. You can see where you stand without anyone else's account being put on display.
The board is not shared with advertisers and is not used to build profiles. Request deletion in your account and the leaderboard record goes with everything else.
